About
Guadalupe Espinoza Gastelum is a mechanical, mechatronics, and energy engineer, bioastronautics researcher and citizen-scientist astronaut candidate with Project PoSSUM and IIAS, and marathon runner. Guadalupe has completed emergency spacecraft egress and sea survival training, G-force training, and tested commercial spacesuits. He is currently training to conduct citizens science research in microgravity flights.
Guadalupe holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering (BSc., Politecnico di Milano), Mechatronics Engineering (B.S., Tecnológico de Monterrey), Sustainable Energy Engineering (MSc., University of Nottingham), and is currently studying Space Operations (MEng., University of Colorado Colorado Springs) and Aerospace Engineering (MSc., University of Colorado Boulder) with a focus in Bioastronautics.
He is passionate about making a positive impact in the world and contributing to the advancement of science and technology that benefit people’s lives. Guadalupe is driven by the motto “by the people for the people”. He is a STEM advocate, and speaker at scientific conferences.
Guadalupe holds certifications in Open Water, Nitrox, and Advanced Open Water scuba diving, and is currently working towards his private pilot’s license. He is fluent is English, Spanish, Italian, and speaks basic French. Guadalupe enjoys running, and is currently training to complete all Abbot World Marathon Majors. He is a lover of God, life, and people. He delights in the little things in life, and likes to find wonder all around. He lives in New York City.
